Hey guys,
I just finished the first three classes of power searching with Google and I learned a lot. In class one I learned how to filter the images that I search for in Google images by color. Instead of scrolling through Google images looking for the right picture I can search for it by color. I also learned in lesson one how to search for specific words on a web page. This is something I wish I had known about because it would have helped me out so many times. It's as simple as hitting CNTRL-F. A box where you can type pops up and you use that to search the page. Something I learned from class two is what the box on the right is that shows up when you search something. I learned that it is an information box that tells you different things about what you searched. If I searched George Washington the box would be on the right telling me about him and it would have links to websites that are about him. Another thing that I learned in class two is how to preview what will be on a page by clicking on the arrows to the right of the link. Something I learned in class three is how to remove something from what I am searching. I can do this by typing what I want to search followed by an minus (-) then what I don't want Google to search. The last thing I learned is that i can search quotes or exact phrases just by putting what i am searching in quotes. For example, I would type, "the water bottle" like that. Power searching with Google has really helped me in school because thanks to what I am learning in this class I am doing research better in all my other classes. But, I still have another three classes until I finish the power searching with Google unit.
